Business disputes: The members of our Litigation and Trial Practice Department are recognized among their peers and the judicial community as proactive and skillful advocates. Labor and employment law: Our firm’s Labor and Employment Department is experienced in all areas of labor and employment law, including legal counseling in cases of wrongful discharge, employment discrimination, workplace retaliation, wage and hour claims, employee benefits, business-related immigration, and Employment Practices Liability. AMG’s labor and employment practice includes representation of employers in cases before federal and Puerto Rico courts, as well as administrative agencies. Tax issues: Our firm has prominent tax attorneys, including a former Assistant Secretary of the Puerto Rico Treasury Department. Our tax attorneys regularly negotiate with the Puerto Rico Treasury Department and have a successful track record of tax litigation.
Commencing business operations in Puerto Rico: We regularly assist out-of-state businesses in structuring and implementing their Puerto Rico operations, as well as helping start-ups with the formation of a corporate business entity and all related permits and issues, as well as the associated labor and employment matters. We are also well-versed in Puerto Rico’s Economic Incentives Law and regularly negotiate tax grants with the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company.
Banking, Real Estate, Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions: AMG has extensive experience in negotiating commercial loans, representing both lenders and borrowers, and in all aspects of real estate law (mortgages, purchases and sales, leases, title issues, etc.).
