Shylene De Jesús-Rivera graduated, magna cum laude, from the University of Puerto Rico’s School of Law in 2001. Ms. De Jesús-Rivera joined AMG in 2011, and is currently a Junior Partner in the Firm’s Litigations Department. Prior to joining AMG, Ms. De Jesus-Rivera was a Junior Partner in the Litigations Department of O’Neill & Borges, LLC. She had previously worked as a clerk for Judge Baltasar Corrada del Río of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico.
Ms. De Jesús-Rivera has significant experience in management of civil and commercial litigation. She practices primarily in creditor’s rights, commercial lending, secured transactions, workouts and restructuring. Her practice also includes consumer financing litigation, defending financial institutions in claims under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (“ECOA”); Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”); Truth in Lending Act (“TILA”); Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), and their local counterparts.
In addition, Ms. De Jesús-Rivera has extensive knowledge and experience in intellectual property matters. She actively prosecutes copyright and trademark applications before the United States Copyright Office, the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the Puerto Rico Department of State. She has successfully represented clients in multiple copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and counterfeit cases in Puerto Rico. Also, she has vast experience litigating before the United States Trademark Trial and Appeals Board. Ms. De Jesus-Rivera’s intellectual property practice also includes the negotiation and enforcement of assignment agreements, coexistence agreements and concurrent use agreements; and providing counseling in connection with the rising practice of fashion law, e-commerce issues and domain name disputes.
Ms. De Jesús is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico; the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit of Boston.
