Liana M. Gutiérrez-Irizarry graduated, magna cum laude, from the University of Puerto Rico, with a B.A. in labor relations. She obtained her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law.
Ms. Gutiérrez-Irizarry joined AMG in 2005 and is currently a Junior Partner in the Firm's Labor and Employment Practice Group. She represents clients in all areas of labor and employment litigation. Her experience encompasses counseling and litigation in areas such as wrongful termination, employment discrimination, wages and hours, employee benefits, retaliation, sexual harassment, violation of constitutional rights, contracts and other employment-related torts. She represents management before administrative agencies and in federal and Puerto Rico courts.
Ms. Gutiérrez-Irizarry also has significant experience in the area of labor relations. She has participated actively in collective bargaining negotiations and has defended employers in labor disputes, including labor arbitration and interpretation of labor agreements before the Arbitration and Conciliation Bureau. She also has extensive experience handling petitions for revisions of arbitration awards before the Puerto Rico Court of First Instance and Appellate Court. Ms. Gutiérrez-Irizarry contributes regularly to the Labor and Employment Practice Group's newsletter and seminar presentation offered by the Practice Group.
She is admitted to the Puerto Rico bar and the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
